Our Top 6 Entrepreneur Books
Who's pumped for 2018? I know I am! What better way to start the year than to read some inspirational business/girlboss books?!
I love reading books about entrepreneurs and how they started their business, it's so inspirational and each entrepreneur has their own story. In fact, reading is an important part of business success, top business people make time to read every day, for example Bill Gates, Oprah Winfrey, Mark Zuckerberg etc. Surely that's enough motivation to pick up a book?
I've shared with you some of my top business and motivational books to read. I read some of these before I even thought about starting a business, I guess I was preparing my mind for something big, I just didn't know at the time.
These books are great if you're thinking about starting a business or you just want to make 2018 a productive and successful year.

How To Be An Overnight Success
The founder of Nip & Fab, Maria Hatzistefanis, writes about her love for skincare and beauty since she was a child when her grandma made facemasks out of pomegranate, and how it inspired her to start her own beauty brand. She worked on Wall Street for 3 years and then decided to start a business. Starting from a little room in her house, she managed to grow a global brand and have celebrities like Kylie Jenner using her products. Maria explains how she did all this and summaries each chapter into key points.
My favourite chapter was about branding! Maria explains how the Kardashian brand is so successful and it actually makes me appreciate their brand. Those girls need to look on point 24/7 with several outfit, makeup and hair style changes a day, and being ferried to multiple interviews and photoshoots a day, that's a lot of work!
Rich Dad Poor Dad
Starting a business on a minimum wage wasn't a walk in the park, but this book REALLY helped me with saving my money and getting into the mindset of a business person.
The author, Robert Kiyosaki, talks about what he learnt from both his dads, the rich dad and the poor dad. They both had a very different relationship with money, and by following his rich dad's mindset and financing habits, Robert became very successful. Robert tells us why the rich are rich and how they deal with money.
There are 3 key things that I learnt from this book:
1) Invest your money in valuable assets, not liabilities
I immediately cut down spending money on clothes, coffees, snacks and buying random things from Boots during my lunch break (does anyone else do this?!). These are all liabilities, they don't grow your money in any way.
2) Education is your most valuable asset
This point has honestly changed my way of thinking. I'm not afraid to spend money on anything that benefits me or appreciates in value, especially education. You will have that knowledge for the rest of your life and no one can take that away from you. People don't have access or aren't allowed an education in some parts of the world, so take advantage of the education that's available to you!
3) Pay yourself first
Have you ever put money into your savings on payday, left a little bit for yourself, then end up dipping into your savings? Yeah, we've all been there. Try paying yourself first on payday then put the rest away in your savings, you're more likely to budget your spending better.
Think and Grow Rich
Ever wondered how the rich get rich? Napoleon Hill tells you exactly why this is. This book is great for getting into the mindset of successful people by explaining how the subconscious mind works, how successful people use it, why people fail, why education doesn't stop after you've left the education system and the 13 principles of success.
There are also some pretty cool stories on how some of the most successful people became successful despite their lack of education, e.g. Henry Ford.
GirlBoss
I loved the Netflix series of this book so I just had to buy the book! Sophia Amoruso started her early 20's a little lost...like a lot of us! She took on a standard 9-5 job just to get health insurance. Discovering her passion for fashion, she started selling vintage clothes that she found in thrift stores on eBay. This eventually grew into a business and Sophia created her brand NastyGal, a multi-million dollar fashion company and one of the fastest growing companies in America!
This book reminded me to trust my instincts and do what feels right.
She Means Business
Carrie Green started a business when she was 20. After graduating with a Law degree, she carried on with her business and became financially independent at a young age. The success was great, but she became lonely, confused and depressed as an entrepreneur. Carrie gives guidance on how to overcome the challenges entrepreneurs face like fear, and feeling lost and overwhelmed. She also shares exercises on how to create a successful business, create loyal customers, stay focused and how to get into the right mindset.
I received this book as a Christmas present so I haven't it yet but I can't wait to get stuck in it!
The Secret
If you're looking for a book to turn your life around, this is it. I know lots of people who have got themselves out of a rut just by reading it. The Secret explains how the law of attraction works and how you can use it to get anything that you want in life. My favourite quote from this book is 'Thoughts become things', because it's true! Whatever you think about, you bring about.
Whether you're a business person or not, I recommend this book to everyone!
